Bransey Jewelry is a one-person shop, and I want this site to work for as many people as I can manage.
What I have done
The site is built to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA as a target. In practice that means:
- Every page states its language, and every page has a distinct, descriptive title.
- Headings follow a logical order, so screen reader navigation works.
- Every form field has a visible, programmatically associated label.
- Every image has alternative text that describes it.
- There is a skip link to the main content on every page.
- Keyboard focus is always visible, and the whole site can be used without a mouse.
- Body and interface text meets or exceeds the WCAG AA contrast ratio.
- Animation is limited, and the site respects your system’s reduced-motion setting.
What I know is imperfect
- Product images are illustrations, not photographs, while the site is being built. The alternative text describes the illustration accurately rather than describing a piece it does not depict. Real photographs with descriptive alt text will replace them.
- The site depends on JavaScript to render the shop grid. If JavaScript is off, the shop page lists every piece by name as plain links, so nothing is unreachable — but the grid layout and filtering are not available.
Tell me when something does not work
If any part of this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, email contact@branseyjewelry.com and tell me what you were trying to do and what happened. I will fix what I can, and I will tell you honestly if I cannot. If you need information from this site in a different form — a description read aloud, a measurement given over email, a photograph at a different angle — ask, and I will provide it.
I do not have a formal accessibility audit, and I am not claiming one.
